New Year's resolutions

New Year’s Resolutions

After the decorations are taken down and we’ve sadly said goodbye to 2017, our thoughts will inevitably turn to yet another 365 days and a new set of New Year’s resolutions (unless yours from 2017 are on repeat). Expect to see adverts playing on the most common themes such as to exercise more (you’re still paying for that gym membership, right?), to drink less booze (the beer belly has to go), and eating more healthily (no, mushy peas from the chippy don’t count). But choosing one is the easy part, right? Sticking with our resolutions is the thing we all seem to have a little difficulty with…

Of 2,000 Brits surveyed by Bupa, just half said they were likely to keep their New Year’s resolutions for 2017. Have you kept yours? Now, it could just be that some of us are setting unachievable goals (FYI Galaxy is impossible to give up) or unrealistic ones (if you’ve never used your gym card, you aren’t going to run three marathons by 2019), but there’s got to be one you can master, right? Good news, we think we may have found a resolution that you’ll want to keep in 2018…

An Opportunity to Achieve More

Perhaps you’ve just finished secondary education, maybe you’re thinking about changing profession or it could be that you’re looking to formalise your knowledge with a qualification. Whatever scenario you find yourself in come 2018, if you’re passionate about a career in accounting, an Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualification could be just what you need. Maybe 2018’s the year you decide to become an accountant.

Why AAT?

We could just ask you to trust us on this one, but luckily, AAT have done the hard work this time. Here’s eight great reasons to study with the Association of Accounting Technicians:

  1. Internationally recognised qualifications: AAT is the world’s leading professional body for accounting technicians. Their members are represented at every level of the finance and accounting world from students and those working in accountancy to self-employed business owners.
  2. Get noticed by employers: AAT courses give students the real-world practical and finance skills business owners need. Financial management is at the heart of every single business, so whatever industry you decide or want to work in, an AAT qualification can get you there.
  3. Your options are endless: An AAT qualification can set you up for life. After studying there is a number of options available to you. You could start full-time work straight away, you could take on an accounting apprenticeship, you could study to become a chartered accountant or you could set up your own accountancy practice.
  4. Age is just a number: Regardless of your age, it’s never too late to start a career in accountancy. You could be looking for a new challenge or a more rewarding career, whatever your situation, AAT courses can help you transition into a role you love with great career prospects.
  5. Great salaries: As you move up the career ladder you can earn good money in accounting. AAT’s courses offer comprehensive coverage of accounting and bookkeeping techniques, so you can develop your knowledge and gain recognition for your skills.
  6. Get chartered: After successful completion of AAT’s Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Accounting course, you can receive generous exemptions with all the UK chartered and certified accountancy bodies. Most universities and all of the UK chartered accountancy bodies recognise AAT.
  7. Career break coming to an end? AAT’s courses build your skills and offer fantastic opportunities. Whether you’re just coming back from travelling or maternity leave, have been made redundant or are simply assessing your options, AAT’s accounting qualifications can fill your knowledge gaps and boost your confidence.
  8. The highest of standards: AAT’s qualifications are part of the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF) meaning they have the most up-to-date standards. In addition, AAT only work with the top training providers to ensure students are guided through their studies and end up in successful careers.

Have we succeeded? Have you replaced ‘make more time for friends and family’ (don’t worry, you can still do that) with ‘study to become an accountant’ on your 2018 New Year’s resolutions list? Good stuff sport – that’s more like it!
