Students who are looking to study or who are coming to the end of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting (Level 2) qualification will have an important decision to make come course completion. Most students at the end of Level 2 will either go into full-time employment, or continue onto the next AAT Level (Level 3).

If you are unsure of which way you want to sway at this stage, that’s okay, but it’s definitely worth knowing the type of jobs you will be eligible for at Level 2. You can then decide whether you would like to start applying for one of those positions or continue onto additional education.

Jobs at Level 2 Standard

The foundation certificate prepares you for junior and entry level accounting positions such as these:

  • Accounts Administrator
  • Accounts Assistant
  • Accounts Payable Clerk
  • Purchase/Sales Ledger Clerk
  • Trainee Accounting Technician
  • Trainee Finance Assistant

Put simply, the higher the AAT level you study, the more job opportunities are available to you. You’re likely to see a higher salary, too!

Come the end of the Level 2 course, you will have gained finance, accounting, business and communication skills. It is your choice whether you would like to take those skills into full-time employment, or gain new skills by studying the Advanced Diploma in Accounting (Level 3), for example. At Level 3 you will learn more complex disciplines such as advanced bookkeeping and ethical practices for accountants.
